Orange County Women’s Soccer League (OCWSL) proudly offers $500.00 scholarships to high school women graduates to further their education.

OCWSL is a non-profit organization committed to developing amateur women’s soccer with a friendly and recreational sense of competition regardless of age, race or religion. The league provides year round opportunities for women 18 years and older. OCWSL’s annual scholarship is funded by proceeds from the league’s annual Pot O’ Gold Tournament. Scholarship applications are distributed to Orange County high schools and are available on the league’s website or by calling the league hotline (714-518-4877).

How to Apply for the Annual Scholarship

Qualifications

Applicant must be an Orange County resident and graduating female senior currently participating in an organized soccer program. Recipient must enroll as a full time student in an accredited school, college or university in 2012-2013.

Selection Criteria

The scholarship committee consists of OCWSL members who will review all complete applications. Selection will be based on the written application and essay submitted by the applicant, one letter of recommendation and consideration of the applicant’s GPA. Awards will be presented at an OCWSL meeting to be held in March 2012 (date, time and location to be announced).

Application Process

• Complete the OCWSL scholarship application.
• Submit a typed essay of 500 words or less explaining: “How soccer has made an impact on my life.” Please use a separate paper for your essay.
• Obtain one letter of recommendation from a Coach or Athletic Director
• Submit a copy of an official or unofficial transcript from your high school
• Send the complete set of materials to the address or email below.
