Annual Scholarship Award

Orange County Women’s Soccer League (OCWSL) proudly offers $500.00 scholarships to high school women graduates to further their education.

OCWSL is committed to developing amateur women’s soccer with a friendly and recreational sense of competition regardless of age, race or religion. The league provides year-round opportunities for players 18 years and older. OCWSL is a non-profit organization founded in 1976. The annual scholarship is funded by OCWSL’s annual Pot O’ Gold tournament. Scholarship applications are distributed to Orange County high schools and are also available by calling the league hotline (714) 518-4877.

How to Apply for the Annual Scholarship

Qualifications
Applicant must be a graduating female senior currently participating in an organized soccer program. Recipient must enroll as a full-time student in an accredited school, college, or university in Fall 2009.

Selection Criteria
The scholarship committee consists of OCWSL members who will review all applications. Selection will be based on the written application and essay submitted by the applicant, two (2) letters of recommendation, and consideration of the applicant’s GPA. Awards will be presented at an OCWSL meeting to be held in April (date and time to be announced).

Application Process

• Complete the application form.

• Submit an essay per the guidelines on the application form.

• Obtain two (2) letters of recommendation. One of the letters must be from your Coach or Athletic Director.

• Obtain a copy of your transcript; unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

Submit five (5) copies of all application materials by May 1, 2009
